Quality Auditor

Location: Based at home with regular travel to services when required (predominantly but not exclusively, in the Lincolnshire area)
Salary: Upto £32,000 depending on experience
Hours: 40 Hours Per Week

The Role

The Quality Auditor provides independent direct operational audit and quality support to the management team, ensuring consistent and effective practices in relation to care process adherence. This role is the hybrid between the Quality Team and Operations, providing direct support to colleagues and managers in ensuring that care and practice is at the optimum quality and providing independent, evidence‑based assurance on the quality, safety, and effectiveness of care to drive continuous improvement and safeguarding outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and conduct case file audits, thematic audits, and observational audits
• Scrutinise and challenge practitioners and managers on process adherence, quality of practice, and safeguarding concerns
• Use agreed audit tools aligned to organisational quality assurance frameworks
• Triangulate evidence through practice observations, colleague interviews, and case reviews
• Identify safeguarding concerns and escalate appropriately in line with policy and procedures
• Analyse qualitative and quantitative audit findings to identify themes, risks, and areas for improvement
• Produce clear, concise audit reports with evidence-based judgements and actionable recommendations
• Track audit actions and monitor progress to support continuous improvement
• Support managers and practitioners to embed learning through reflective discussions and feedback loops
• Contribute to policy, procedure, and quality standard improvements across services
• Provide training, coaching, and guidance on quality assurance and safeguarding standards where required
• Support inspection readiness and regulatory engagement with external bodies including CQC and Ofsted
• Prepare assurance reports for senior leaders, boards, and governance committees
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to organisational risk management and compliance activity

What We’re Looking For

• Considerable experience within adult or children’s social care residential settings, or a relevant professional qualification
• Strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding practice and legislation
• Previous experience conducting audits, quality assurance activity, or compliance reviews
• Good understanding of regulatory frameworks including CQC and Ofsted requirements
• Ability to analyse complex information and produce high-quality reports with clear recommendations
• Confident in constructively challenging managers and practitioners to improve quality and compliance
• Proactive, solution-focused, and committed to driving continuous improvement
• Empathetic and approachable, with a strong commitment to outstanding care and practice
• Able to work independently while building effective working relationships with operational teams and managers
• Resilient and confident when handling sensitive or challenging situations
• Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Self-motivated and accountable for managing own workload effectively

Desirable

• Knowledge of relevant legislation and frameworks including the Care Act 2014, Children Act 1989/2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and MCA/DoLS or LPS
• Experience supporting inspection preparation and regulatory assurance processes
• Experience delivering training, coaching, or reflective practice sessions
• Proficiency in clinical/practice digital systems and Microsoft Office applications
