Role overview:
Reporting to and supporting the Garden & Grounds Maintenance Supervisor and accountable to the
Group Property Manager (North); the postholder will be a member of the Property Team actively
assisting with the maintenance and development of the grounds and external areas of Company’s
Residential Care Homes, schools and ancillary property stock.
Formal qualifications:
Alongside the expected levels of demonstrable experience in the key elements of the role, the post
holder would be expected to be educated to a GCSE (or equivalent) level. Trade specific
qualifications are desirable but not essential if suitable experience is held or skills demonstratable. A
class B manual driving licence is required.
Key Responsibilities
• This role shall be based from the Company’s Swinderby site with a remit/additional satellite
properties included and be deemed the “North” region.
• Assist the G&GMS with the delivery of an efficient and effective planned and proactive grounds
maintenance service.
• Assist the G&GMS in delivering efficient and effective arrangements to deal with any unplanned
or emergency works as required.
• Assist the G&GMS in ensuring that suitable arrangements are in place to effectively and safely
manage all aspects of relevant works undertaken by any external contractors.

• Assist the G&GMS/the Company in their safe systems to ensure suitable arrangements are in
place to identify and manage the presence of potentially toxic plant species in the grounds.
• Assist the G&GMS completing and recording relevant auditory processes associated with the
role. Reporting/resolving any faults and/or hazards in a timely fashion.
• Assist the G&GMS in liaising with the Care Home/School Managers regarding planned and
reactionary works
• With Information , instruction and training provided - ensure working to relevant Safe
Systems of Work including - Risk Assessments, Method Statements, COSHH Assessments,
Permits to Work et al.
• Attend meetings, training courses and follow-up refresher courses as required.
• Record information ensuring it is legible, accurate and complete. Communicate in a manner
that is appropriate and accurate.
• Promote good department housekeeping principles and commercial “workperson-like”
demeanour.
• Recognise and promote that ultimately the residents/pupils and their representative staff
are “The Client.”
